                                 v

Before I go any further can I just say I have not been so wet for years as I was second half last night, the sight of me and Dave Chaillinor trying to hide in the lee of a tree to prevent maximum soakage must have amused many (well not that many actually) a Lostock fan.

The Development Squad continued their build up to the new season with a hard fought win in front of 1st team manager Dave Challinor against Lostock St Gerards at an aptly named Wateringpool Lane on Wednesday evening.

An early first half strike by the in form Isaac Kusaloka (following up his goal the night before v Hyde) set the ball rolling in a half dominated by the Coasters. They had many other opportunities to add to the lead but failed to do so and they were made to pay as Dwayne Gilmour scored for LSG from a set piece prior to the interval in what was the home sides only real first half chance.

The second half was played in torrid conditions as the heavens opened (and stayed open!!) and both sides struggled to get the ball down and play with any real conviction and quality. However two late goals in the final 5 minutes from Fylde's Brad Carsley (which it has to be said were caused by the conditions, keeper flat on his back following an attempted clearance and had to watch the ball roll agonisingly slowly past him and just inside the post) and Adam Freeland (on a marauding run into the opposition box) ensured that the Coasters secured a win on the night.

Andy Pilkington could heard across a reasonable stretch of the Prestron district straight after the game as he "informed" the players what he thought of the performance and he said "As good as it is to get a win tonight I personally was disappointed with several aspect of tonight's game from our perspective. At times we lacked the spark that I have come to expect from this group of lads and in my view the overall performance fell well short of where I expect it to be. Strong words were spoken at the end of the game as I have a simple set of expectations i expect and demand off my group of players and if i don't see them I will want to know why! That said, it is pre season and i suppose these games are about ironing out the creases and hopefully by the time the first ball is kicked we will have done that".

Line Up:

Pybis, Sealey (Monckton 70), Priestner (Lambeth 45), Freeland, Gwin (Ainsworth 45), Bannister, Dodd (Barber 60), Kusaloka, Carsley, Evans (Cook 70).
